But the real reason for this kind of arguments is the less demand for our students. and the our backward mind. Our people request for small salary. We can't even recover the cost for degree. When we buying some thing we could sell it more than buying price. But our degree (People call it diploma) not worth than its buying price . Now Sliit is becoming peace of shit in it industry.
We should change it.

As i think aiya reason is SLIIT student don't have year of traning to get working experience like they have in UOM. normally in UOM when people get there degree they have one year of good working experience with training. So company don't have to train them that much.
But when u look at SLIIT, we have full 4 year of academic work. no training session, after 4 years we have to hunt for jobs without working experience. that's y normally our 1st job is with low salary . i don't think there is much difference of skills. Some SLIIT students start working while they doing 2nd year so when come to 4 year they directly can go for good job with better salary. SLIIT will be awesome. if we did had last industrial year. any comments about this guys ??

First of please do not insult the University of Moratuwa.
It's one of those few prestigious universities that anybody would've been proud to go to since it kept it's name firmly on the ground before universities like SLIIT came up. Therefore please respect those who deserve it

Where as the AGENTS .. I have no idea how they managed to end up there with all their tosh but they were not the ideal candidates to represent a university or a faculty as good as UOM-IT.
I bet there are loads of better people there who could do better

It's somebody's talent and nature both that gets them to a position in the industry Not because of their behavior somewhere else when they were still undergraduates I'm not saying it was right though

I'm from UOM-IT and I'm not afraid to say it. In that presentation those guys were bit too much and I accept that. Now you have make it a reason to tarnish the image of the whole ITfaculty. Do you think the top shots from industry approved your hooting that night?? I had a invitation through the company and I was there. SLIIT or what ever you were that was very unprofessional. Also do you know that this thread has been directed to MS Sri Lanka division??? When we won IC few years ago, we didn't hoot you did we?? Remember, YOU HOOTED BEFORE THAT IT FAC GUY THAT MESSAGE CAME FROM FB. To me it seems like you sent him a msg b4 that to provoke him. But remember, your behavior on that day was uuuuhh... so BAD. Almost all the IT pro's disgusted it. Do you guys really think these kind of childish pranks can get you higher salaries????

Please remember.. We only judge you people from the reputation of the institution and how you perform @ the interview. As bad reputation goes before you, imagine what will happen if a irritated UoM guy leads an interview. My point is Don't start stupid threads like this and hurt your whole institution which doing a great job.

Not really, this is not the problem. The problem is general attitude of students who expect them to be spoonfed. I did my studies at SLIIT and UoM. Based on my experience you get spoon feed at UoM relatively better than SLIIT. They help you a lot in selecting your projects as well as landing at your first jobs. SLIIT don't do that. In my opinion they don't have to .

This is degree level not school. You are expected to some things on your own. If you are studying at SLIIT, remember you have a weekend course. You can always find a job and complete your degree while you are working. That way when you graduate you will have years of experience. There are plenty of places that hire SLIIT students. Pay will be less than what a graduate is paid. But how can you expect you to be paid as much as a graduate when you are just a student?.

I personally know lots of people who followed this path. They have 1,2,3 and even 4 years of professional experience by the time they graduate from SLIIT. People from government universities simply do not have this option. Best they can do is to graduate with less than 1 year of experience.

If you are a SLIIT student, and if you select this path, by the time you graduate you will be far ahead of rest of the crowd in your professionalism as well as your pay. Not taking this path is also your choice and you are the one who will have to face the end results. There is no real point of blaming on SLIIT for it.

Working and studying same time is a real challenge, but flexible regulations at SLIIT makes it possible. If you don't take advantage of that you have only yourself to blame.

As a past student i don't satisfy about the academic work. Last week I had a interview with our student. But he couldn't explain about the OOP concepts. He havent hard about the ORM not any industrial frameworks. I suggest to our sliit to dont go after damn awards . First give good knowledge to students for the money they paying. Our students pay huge amount when compair to their salary. I advice you also dont waste ur timme in this kind of forums study and show ur colours.
