Just ran into the same problem just now. After tested CM9 then reflashed back to 2.3.6 and got the error "battery disconnected!"
Plug in charger will charge for 1s and then will stop charging and saying the same thing again.
-Solution is:
- wipe battery stats
- Plug the charger into the phone turn it on.
- Once turned on, open up the battery cover and pull the battery out. The phone will be be turned off. Don't take the cable out. Leave it in the slot.
- Put the battery back into the phone and start it up. This should fixed the "Battery Disconnected!" error.

This happened to my phone and it really is a simple fix. First take the battery out of the phone for about 10 seconds. Then with the battery out plug the phone up, wait a few seconds, and put the battery in and immediately press power.
