Vice Adm. Mark Fox, commander of the U.S. navy 5th Fleet, told reporters at the naval force's Bahrain headquarters that the Navy has 'built a wide range of potential options to give the president' and is 'ready today' to confront any hostile action by Tehran.
The commander said the U.S. Navy would move to stop any Iranian attempt to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz or Persian Gulf as an “act of war” the international community wouldn’t tolerate.
Iranian officials repeatedly say they will block the Strait of Hormuz.
