US to grant eligible Sri Lankans five-year visas

The US Embassy in Colombo announced on April 4 that Sri Lankans traveling to the United States are now eligible to receive multiple entry visas valid for a five-year period.

Travelers whose visa requests are approved and have compelling reasons to travel often to the United States will automatically be issued the five-year validity visas.

Previously, Sri Lankans could obtain a US visa for a maximum period of one year.


In addition the United States will eliminate the $95 issuance fee that had previously been charged for approved visa. Sri Lankans will continue to be charged the $100 visa application fee, a standard fee mandated by Congress and applied to all nationalities.


While the decision to issue a visa will continue to be made in accordance with the same strict and rigorous process to deter fraud, legitimate travelers will benefit from the new visa policy.

you are correct bro,

it is not that good country to live. i have been there but fed up. i tell u reason y usa is not a good country. these are small example.
1. nobody can smoke a cigarette there are many ppl asking 1 from u. if u say no more. then they ask ur half.

2. in sri lanka any clothe we can wear throughout the year. but in america u got to change according to season. also according to the area where u r going to live, environment change. as i know las vegas is o.k. due to a lot of casinos and popularity. but still it is a desert.

in L. A (Los angalese) after 8 pm nobody on the road except beggers n robbers. in the down town of L. A. last shop to be closed is mcdonald n also closed at 8pm.

depends on where you are. some parts of the country winter is very harsh

Most people go out in LA in the night

McDonald's close at 11 p.m or midnight(depends on location)

some are open 24 hours

Many supermarkets are open 24 hours, 7 days a week

Just for information, the actual duration of stay is determined only on arrival at a US port of entry by an Immigration Official. The duration is written on I-94 form that one has to fill out before landing at a US airport.

With your explanation about USA reflects the life you've been through during the stay in America.

Talking about the life in downtown LA to describe USA is like talk about Pettah to describe Sri Lanka. What type of environment can you expect in Pettah during and after hours.

Down town is the commercial hub in the City of Los Angelese. Who go their to have dinner unless you live in that area.

One cannot compare the life of LA to the life of down town, LA is a huge City as big as entire Gampaha District.
