Maxis Telecom, owned by Asia’s second richest man, Usaha Tecas, that has bought a stake in Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), said here in Kuala Lumpur that the company is looking forward to invest US $ 500 to $600 million in Sri Lanka and indicated that it would be interested in TV, Internet services, Radio sectors though no decision has been taken on its investment plans in Sri Lanka yet.
The senior officials of the company made this remarks at the launching ceremony of its latest statelite TV net work in South Asia.
The new statelite Tv network which has commenced three months ago currently has attracted over 150,000 households in Malaysia, Indonisia and China.
Uasha Tecas is currently a market leader in TV. radio broadcasting and telecom sector in Malaysia according to company officials.
Astro All Asia Network, the TV and radio net work has a 10 million viewer market for its Pay Tv service while attracting 10 million FM listeners to its FM radio channels on a weekly basis.
The company is currently telecasting 83 international channels and 30 Astro on demand channels which are the company’s own channels.
