Yes but when you get a insurance policy you dont ask who are the black listed garage. "Yes, you don't and you don't have to as your intention is not to make a claim, but to claim only if unfortunate accident happens". sometime ago, if I am not mistaken some companies released a list of non approved garages. Don't know about the current situation now.
Its only when you meet with an accident you come to know. But when we send our vehicle we also should have trust in that place. -
There are two ways to process a motor vehicle claim
a. Based onsite approval given- you don't need to submit your repair bills or salvage items on this basis. You dont need to show the vehicle to get the claim cheque / money. But, it is better to repair the damage and show the vehicle for an after repair inspection (ARI) to confirm that you have done the repair. Otherwise, the insurance company will not entertain a second claim which damaged the same components of the vehicle as they have no way to justify whether you actually repaired the previous damage or not.
b. Estimate basis - This method will be used when the assessor is unable to decide an onsite offer due to the inability to determine the extent of damages for the internal components of the vehicle. Therefore, the insurer suggest to put the vehicle to a garage at your convenience and obtain the estimate. Once you obtain the estimate and submit same to the insurance company, or once you inform what is the garage you are going to put the vehicle to obtain the estimate, they will advise you whether the garage is in the approved list or not. At the same time they can suggest you alternative garage, which is acceptable for them in your close proximity. Also they will immediately advise you if they need to do a DR inspection to identify the internal components which are damaged and the relevant approval can be obtained.
Today car parts are very expensive as a result in some places they remove these parts and sell. - This is one of the reason, why some garages are blacklisted by the insurance companies.
So you come to know that after few weeks or month. - Which is why the repairs needs to be get done from a reputable place, unless you cant keep a person at garage whilst your repair is done. if repair takes couple of days to complete, this is not practical. By then its too late. This can lead to long process. This is the reason we also want to put the vehicle to a place which is secure by us.- Agreed, when it comes for insurance the insurer also have the right to propose you a place which they can depend on, and to control the fraudulent claims. So, both needs to be moderate and flexible on this. knowing the fact that the garage is claiming for non damaged items as well, can the insurance company allow it . no they cant.
"Why don't you go for the authorized agent? "
Answer for this is, in my case Agent is AMW, they dont have all the parts so you need to wait, Their workshop is in Peliyagoda Nuge Road. I need to think of all these. Even the person who came to inspect accepts its high at AMW. - Agent price is obviously higher, but insurance company doesn't complain over it cos they have tie-up agreements with the agents regarding the payment terms etc. Also, if the insured is not willing to get repair done from the agent, the insurance company can suggest you alternative places to repair and they have options to find the relevant parts from the market as well. Also, delivery orders can be dispatched to the spare parts providers, where the insured (you) don't have to pay and purchase the spare parts from the shop and take to garage etc...
Even recently to a friend of mine who had put his car with one of the leading agents had his parts changed and he discovered it after 1 month or so and he had to go to them n proof that its there it had taken place. So all these are possible issues. In a garage which repairs within 2-3 days the possibility is less but in a garage where they say it will take 1 week then you need to be careful. - Of course, yes. If there is a confusion as such, the user can obviously take it up with the management of the particular workshop irrespective it is an insurance claim related repair or a general service job. Also, they can get into litigation and claim a decent compensation for the loss + legal fees + and other expenses
