. Ven. Soma Thero death anniversary events - Shramadana (volunteer work) at the Abhayagiri Chaitya reconstruction site
The fourth death anniversary of the Venerable Gangodawila Soma Thera was commemorated with two religious ceremonies at Anuradhapura. The two-day ceremonies were organized by the Jaathika Hela Urumaya at Anuradhapura.
The first day's ceremony was held in front of the Jaya Shri Maha Bodhi and Ruwanmeli Seya. The second day it was the form of shramadana (volunteer work) at the Abhayagiri Chaitya reconstruction site. Over 25 monks including Ven.Athuraliye Rathana Thero – the JHU parliament group leader, Ven.Passaramulle Dayawansa Thero, Ven.Budugala Ginawansa Thero and Minister Champika Ranawaka, President’s Defence Adviser H.M.G.B Gotakedeniya and hundreds of JHU supporters participated at the Shramadana.
