Visas and Foreign Currency
1 Make sure that the passport is at least valid for 6 months from the date of travel when applying for visas.
2 As there are different types of visa categories such as transit, business, tourist, migrant, employment, student etc it is important to apply under the right category.
3 Prior to the submission of your visa make sure your passport carries at least 2 blank pages for visas, as endorsements at the entry point would also take place besides stamping of visa on a page.
4 Visa requirement for specific visas could be obtained from the respective Embassies, your travel agent or from the website of the Embassy in concern.
5 It is essential to obtain visas of the country you visit before applying for transit visas.
6 In the case of countries that issue visas on arrival, make sure all required documents for visas are carried in person.
7 If you are applying for visas for children check if it is permitted to apply for child visas on your passport as well or if you would require separate passports for children as some Diplomatic missions insist on that. In case of issuing visas on parents’ passports some Embassies would only require child's name to be endorsed with initials whereas some other would insist on the full name to be endorsed.
8 When applying for visas all documents submitted should tally with the name of the passport, in case of name being different due to marriage or any other, there are different procedures to follow such as submission of affidavit, producing marriage certificates, birth certificates etc. please consult your travel agent.
9 On your return if you are bringing in foreign currency, it is advisable to declare the currency brought-in
10 The following documents are required to purchase travellers’ cheques and foreign currency.
a) Valid Passport
b)Valid visa for the country to be visited
c) Return air tickets
11 It is an offence to carry unsigned travellers' cheques. Therefore you are strongly advised to sign on the space left for the specimen signature.
12 It is an offence to purchase foreign currency from unauthorized dealers without any endorsement on the passport. As such even if some party advises or suggests such transactions we strongly advise you to avoid them.
