THE PRESENCE OF Aero on a Vista notebook significantly drains battery life, a report claimed today.

According to ZD Net, HP even devised its own methods to make sure its customers didn't get cross.

While Microsoft touts Vista as having power management features, another major notebook firm, Lenovo, also had to apply its own power management techniques.

But Microsoft told ZD Net it wanted notebook manufacturers to tweak the settings and let peoples' notebooks last that little longer.

More here.
