50 overs New Zealand 284 for 7 (Vincent 70, Fleming 65) v Sri Lanka
The openers Lou Vincent and Stephen Fleming shared a century partnership as New Zealand set Sri Lanka a daunting target of 285 in Barbados. Sri Lanka won the toss, sent the Kiwis in and were soon made to rue that decision as Vincent plundered his way to 70, while Fleming made 65. They received support further down the order from Ross Taylor, who made 30.
The innings will give a New Zealand renewed confidence after they fell victim to a shock defeat by Bangladesh earlier this week.
