Have you ever wanted to own a Mac?
There are many reasons to do so..
1. The Mac OS X Leopard, known as the world’s most advanced operating system and simplicity combined with lot of innovative features.
2. Totally integrated and well performing applications with the operating system, since all the major applications are developed from Apple it self.
3. World famous, very powerful, easy to use and innovative applications like Final Cut Studio which even allows you to edit 4K Films, Logic Studio, iLife etc.. Which are not available in PC platform.
4. More performance in graphic applications and can work in more organized manner.
5. Eye candy designs and visual effects which makes you fall in love with your Mac OS X and its applications disregarding your experience or user level
etc..
But Macs are really really expensive! Mac Pro for video editing and graphics can cost over many times than the same performing PC. So it’s not only out of reach from the normal user but mostly also from the commercial video and graphic artists in Sri Lanka.
But there are ways to install Mac OSX and all the Mac OS Applications with full functionality on cheap PC hardware that you already have in your Windows machine.
But it’s illegal to install Mac OS and applications on non-Mac Hardware. So it should be done only for educational or testing purposes only!
Here I have some screen shots of my Mac Pro (on PC Hardware) running the latest Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 with some of the well known applications for Mac.
You can also do this but it’s totally depending on the hardware you have and the time you can spend on this project. If you are lucky enough you can install Mac OS within few hours with minimal patching or fixes. But on some hardware it needs lot of reading in the internet, researching, patching and lot of time to learn it with trial by error.
So if you are an enthusiast and have some free time then go for it. But remember this is totally illegal and should be done only for educational and testing purposes.
I have given only glimpse of the subject and its possibilities. There are groups dedicated for this PC to Mac transformation.
