Because first you gotta answer the question, Why you want to go for water cooling over air cooling... because under normal conditions air cooling can handle most room temperatures unless ofcourse you are talking about OC'ing your system and you need bit more cooling..
But then you've gotta measure the price factor of water cooling lets say for example you spend 15000/= for a CPU and could achieve 2.8 GHz by using Air Cooling... but if you change it to water cooling maybe you only can get 3.0 Maximum.. does spending like 8k~ for a water cooling worth the 0.2Ghz you manage to squeeze out?
You could have added that 8k and for 23k you could have bought a 3.2 GHz CPU instead.. which can OC further..
Its just an example... I guess you can get the idea of what I'm trying to say.. anyway I'm not familiar with SL prices so decision is in your hands and believe me there are ways to make air cooling very effective, so maybe you can see into it first!![]()
~v3n0m~ said:yes, thanks for the reply. i have seen people hitting 4ghz from the 2.66ghz i7 920 with air cooling.
but my question is, in the day time our room temperature is high, the air is filled with a lot of thermal energy, this could decrease the effectiveness with aircooling?
I found this,
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/core-i7-coolers-roundup_11.html
its seems to be very effective when OCing. its worth spending for it. but will it be the same for us?
because it was just too hot it seems
sri_lion said:Room Temp. definitely has an effect on Air Cooling... you can obviously see it if you monitor carefully..
Not so long ago... when there was that HEAT in Aussie.. our Neon's VGA just stopped workingbecause it was just too hot it seems
If you have money then go for water cooling but price / performance vise Air Cooling is ahead... but there's pros and cons ofcourse... extreme Air Cooling could be noisy and if you sleep in the same room with PC on then it can be pretty difficult also!
~v3n0m~ said:ahh! he should have put his VGA into highest possible clock speeds.
yes, the cooler i mentioned before is very effective, but cant be sure about its effectiveness in a room temperature like in sl.
