Pinwath mithurani,
This is a lecture by a distinguish scholar at University of California. He's trying to present on "Buddhism in a Global Age of Technology"....
Please do not treat it as Dhamma; I am posting it here to show how scientific community is trying to analyze Buddhism; compare with scientific findings...
This is not an attempt to look down upon those in west trying to follow Buddhism (there are/should be many good Buddhists in the west; we should appreciate how they do that despite lack of access and presence of conflicting teachings...)
Many of them would probably keep on appreciating Buddhism... but without gaining anything from Dhamma...
Because unfortunately Buddhism they see/come across is not pure...
so they have a little chance to make use of Dhamma... See how fortunate we are...
We should never try to justify Buddhism with science... Buddhism can be justified though ourselves when we realize Dhamma...
Theruwan saranai!
