So here is my idea. Buddha says that thinking there is a self is an illusion, in fact there is no self. So if we say that someone dies and reborns, that means there is an identity between those too people, hence a self. Therefore it is exactly not the same person that is reborn. Yet there must be a connection or else why it is said reincarnation(Punarbhawa in pali). So it can be assumed that there is something cling to our physical body that will travel beyond death, I think this should be some sort of a quantum. Energy levels can vary depending on the actions. However to think that the same person is born is an Illusion, only there is a connection. Buddha has said nothing is permanent, in fact we change everyday. Well that is sort of a sort version of what I understand. I'm also not clear about this By the way.
