Just wanted to express my thoughts...

I think the best data recovery software is Nero Burning ROM!!! Yeah, you read it right. Why? Because, there is nothing better than backing up your important data to external media - in this case CDs or DVDs. See?

But if you wanna know the best data recovery software as how zCexVe has put it like, then, I have no idea. I mean, I have never used one. So can't recommend anything, or vote one against another.

Please use good CD/DVD for backup.Dont put ur wedding ceremony video on a chinese/taiwan datalife or a princo..It will waste ur data+money+time.I've put my trust on Melody group which was formerly known as sigma corp. which produces sigma, melody CD/DVDs.Also imation,memorex,3M r good. Not coz they all r American ,but they sure have a great quality standard.:) :)

To be honest, none of the brands you mentioned are considered good. You need Japanese makes (not USA).
    1. Taiyo Yuden (but there are duplicates)
    2. Mitsubishi Chemical
    3. Verbatim (not the ones with CMC Media IDs)
    4. Sony
    5. Ricoh Japan
    6. Ritek (but some DVD burners might have incompatibilities)

There could be others, but these are the best.

1.u cant ever find one in sl.
2.i've got 3 models and there r duplicates
3.price is so high even when u buy bulk.
4.i've got 4 of sonys which includes f2 copies of those.Hard to find whats the real
    5. same as 1.
6.i had too.i wasted that precious one.

u knw i hav an empty CD collection of about 90 blank CDs with about 40-60 makers?but i have never heard of the 1. really TBH.the best known for me is penguin which torana,M-enter. uses to burn their audio cds.

I was talking about DVD+/-Rs. Not sure about CDRs.

Usually the duplicates don't come with the manufacturer's name. There are certain brands which uses TY MediaID which is Taiyo Yuden's MID. They are duplicates.

You can also see if the quality of the disc from outside.

You can buy Verbatim DVDRs for around Rs.60 each at Unity if you buy a 10 DVD pack.

Anyway, you get what you pay for. A high quality disc might last for years, while you will have to rewrite the data of a low quality disc several times to keep the data intact for so long.

plz do not lost your data, back up them, it'z da best way to recover data....
idiot i just saw your moda post.what good things do we have for backup:eek: .U knw that my backup 20GB hdd failed when i wanted that data:angry:
that was a WD cavier 7200 rpm 3 years ago.I backed up a copy of a Genuine 98 CD which i got frm ma fathers office, but that damn CD got its leadin bad and had to throw it out.So i now use recovery things.
And just to ur knwledge even in SriLankan banks, they backup data in the evening. If sumthing happens in the noon data is lost.too they use tape backup even they make 3 of them.So recovery is so needy when u loose ur unbackedup data.

Get Databack 2.14 is ok, I've used it.
Or try Ontrack Easy Recovery 6.0,

Restoration Version 2.5.14 - could be useful to recover individual files (one by one)
