    I use Ubuntu.

    If you need something else, you can try Linux Mint. its very beautiful and nice..

    or Debian, and fedora are also nice...

    mmm sorry dakke na me thread eka anith aya okkoma kiyala...

    mama dan 3-4 years indala Linux thamai use karanne, All of my PCs,Laps running with Linux. here is my definition

    there are thousands of Linux distros (sinhala one is on the way )// but i'll tell you how to choose one from common distros

    Ubuntu - this is the common one, and i prefer it for totally beginners it got simple GUI and a lightweight . If you need a gr8 interface or full of gr8 softs try Kubuntu (KDE version)

    Linux mint - this is the next one i prefer for beginners. its based on ubuntu and inbuilt nonfree softs/drivers but its better if you can start with the ubuntu and then switch to mint. some one says Mint is easier than ubuntu. its true but. if you are a totally beginner. you may get confused or disappoint with mints functions..

    Fedora - this is the big deal. ubuntu is good for start and for daily needs like word processing, internet surfing, Desktop publishing,or gaming. but if you wanna study further on Linux. its better if you can use fedora. its a gr8 OS. its bit geeky. so i dun recommend it for the very beginning.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    here are some others

    Mandriva/open SUSE = these are also good but now outdated. its hard to find help,softs for them. but better try. couz they are really good (some times SUSEs GUI is nicer than ubuntu.)

    xubuntu = if you got a very old PC. or laptop this is the best. its lightweight and easy to use. I'm using it for my laptop couz it saving my battery life..

    Helabuntu = if you wanna use/learn Linux in sinhala, or get more support with sinhala. you better try this ;).. beta 1 and 2 is out. beta 3 (code name - Athkanda lihini II) is completed but i dun hv tym to upload :( . I'll upload it ASAP..:nerd:

    Mmm As entertainments I think you mean, Movies, Songs,lyk dat ha ?? if yes. I prefer mint couz its got NONFREE auduo/video Codecs built in.

    or if you got a huge RAM/VGA. you better try ubuntu studio

    or you you gonna choose one from the ubuntu and kubuntu.. Kubutnu is good couz its nice interface (KDE) and builtin aditional softs
