machan i havnt used LINUX but i'v heard itz a good OS.

from wot i'v heard u hav 2 write the free software on2 a CD n load from it to use LINUX. but i find it rely disturbing coz hw can we use our DVD ROM whn d OS is runnin in ther!!

it's called live cds...u can use pc without hdd too...but there are many distro(like versions) which can be installed in ur hdd....check them out...
knoppix is great as a live cd and mandriva as an insatallable...

No machan...its not necessary..you can install to you HD and when you r starting you can select windows or linux.

Every OS has its ups and downs, whatever said and done... you can't find a better all rounder than Windows at the moment...

It would be nice to have a fully fledged open source OS which can really give solid competition to Windows environment and its compatibility!!

But that day seem so far!!!

Although Windows has its weaknesses, the amount of Hardware, Software compatibility, support is far greater than Open Source software.. you can't deny that!!!

Linux may address many issues, but some instances not as comprehensively as Windows!!!
