Maybe. But the thing is, for the simple tasks we need to perform, Premiere is overkill. That's my opinion.

Cool. I have only seen Premiere, and it was confusing :(
Oh buddy it is so easy ne.Just drag and drop, few shortcuts ,export via Adobe media encoder sooo easy.I accept that it has a frightful workspace.like photoshop nothing hard but seems very hard.Just give it a try.I dont use pinnacle or Ulead coz I cant get with them very well.I mean doesnt give much for us to handle the videos..I use it with photoshop and IMTOO mpeg encoder and PROCoder[a plugin for faster encoding]

But doesn't it take a long time to produce the final result?

Nope the same.BTW more effects=more time. And there r sum effects called GPU effects.God will render it if u've got a slow pc.Even mine cis slow at them. The time is also the same. compared to the features we get its no loss. But If u gonna capture video Pinnacle and Ulead is da best.No doubt. They will capture with minimal quality drop. But If ure streaming frm firewire or USB there wont be much difference there.
