What is the greatest mistake the GOVT made in last 3 years.

They have made a lot like any other Govt.

Which has had the worst impact on many people
which people would not forget for a long time.?

THE mistake which changed the positive attitude of people which they earlier had
and changed the image of the Govt negatively forever.

I have one in mind. I want to know what do you think first.

Good concept, but in the wrong time (in a war situation)

1 Mihin Lanka
2 Not given enough attention to about GSP+ tax benifit and it made an entry to closure of many garment factories.
3 Increasing vehicle taxes to 100-300% which made it imposiible to buy a new vehicle .
4 not reducing petrol price to below Rs100

Other than that Govenment has done a lot of great things,including winning the war and liberating noth and east.

• Stating a false time frame to end the war.
• Termination of Peter Hill's contract (Sri Lankan airlines) under unethical circumstances
• Going above and acting against the supreme court
• Marketing "patriotism" of Sri Lankan people in order to gain political benefits
• Handling the incident at Rupavahini Corporation
• Handling the deaths of Maj Janaka Perera and Lasantha Wickramathunga

about 3 and 4... not so sure about those things... they had to be done to keep treasury afloat.

but Mihin was a disappointment. i hope they learn from previous mistakes and come strong.

showing clearly that they are ready to break the law.
That enhanced the suspicion about Sirasa and Lasantha.
In the future also it will happen.

I think many people got scared of MR and Govt after that.
It damaged especially the image of MR irreparably.

After that the interest people had on war dropped remarkably, even in Elakiri.
Govt lost much more than they saved by not reducing Oil prices.

Million 6000 for Mihin also damaged the image of Govt's ability and intelligence.
It proved that Govt is greedy or stupid to waste so much more money for a once pathetically failed project.


I think it is more serious when the image of the Govt is shattered for image is fundamental and subconscious.
People decide on everything based on the good or bad image they have.
Going against opposition is one thing...
Going against Law is a quality of a thug.
Only Thugs would respect another thug.
A vast majority of the Sri Lankans are NOT thugs.

Actually i'm a person who has changed the mind to vote Mahinda Rajapaksha
Because he gave the leadership to defeat LTTE
but one thing which pulled me back was his henchmen
specially when they said Sirasa supports terror and their reaction for certain things
and the final point came that even MR liberated SL from LTTE I will not vote him
because of the Assassination of Lasantha Wickramathunga
that is unforgivable!!!!

I do not support a terrorist govt.
yes they defeat LTTE but they try to dominate and be like Robert Mugabe
if this thing continues... (after LTTE is defeated) UNP will ask for a part of sri lanka

The motive is to save money for grabs.
Country gets financially unstable because of the corruption and over expenditure.
Only 2000+ Millions spent for war, and they are going to waste
another 6000 millions on Mihin.
A smoking drunkard can't talk about wise financial decisions.
And war is over soon.

The excuses can settle the minds of some stupid voters
who can't think more than one thing at a time.
Even with them if the image is shattered
all these excuses become useless.
Only people who are Uncivilized, Barbaric
would approve someone going against law.
No matter what.
Even the most Barbaric societies too have their own law and expected to be followed.

A society becomes barbaric if people go against law.
What would be the result if the Govt. itself go against law.

If they can't agree with the court they could have appealed..
Going against the law with excuses is not good for a govt.

It doesn't help even if the Govt is right.
Right or wrong is not a point when one is against law.
Going against law is wrong in a civilized society..

Point is that
GOING AGAINST THE LAW
is the greatest mistake Govt made
because that shattered the image of the Govt.

The govt would go smoothly as long as they are popular.
The popularity is mainly depend on the strength of the Govt.
People may do wrong but they idolize the good
and positively strong leaders.
If they find that the strength is negative...
they become scared or angry.
That's why almost all the people hate Prabhakaran.
He thinks and acts as he is above the law.

Many people who trusted or believed that the
Govt is strong,
MR is strong
realized that it is not the kind of strength they would really respect.
People do not respect a thug
who goes against the law
and they celebrate when he falls.
If a Govt acts like a thug same will happen.

The sad thing
is that with all the votes they have in the parliament
Govt could serve the country so much better
if there was a will.
