hmm there's no exact or precise interpretation I remember reading somewhere that Lynch wanted to depict how he perceived life back then thru this film, which actually makes sense...its like how going thru day to day routine has become so cynical and boring to him, discolored, disfigured...bleak..well, that's how some people perceive life. so this file takes all the glory from life, adds an extra layer of despair on it. takes all the sound and joy from it. present the cruel hilarious joke of a life in the form of a film. this film is a masterwork of art.
