Been seeing bits of Black swan again. that film is just incredibly good in everyway.
More I think about movies that came out recently, I can't help but think that Inception is the most over rated pile of garbage in the recent times..Black swan makes it look like american pie.
into months since I saw black swan and it still blows my mind...must see it again.
not that It's a perfect film, but it's got magic to overwhelm one. shutter island comes close though.
    now Melancholia beats em all.

yes, I liked it very much :Dit's not over-rated, it achieves what it sets out to achieve.
I liked inception too, but it doesn't meet the expectations. it's highly over-rated.
it deserves something around 6/10. it's really mediocre. in every aspect. I feel bad for Nolan, Guy used to make real films. not this plastic crap for teenagers

Whats wrong with it as a sci-fi ?
It has good concept(not original I agree) and a good storyline. if you take "In time" its lack of good plot but not inception.

Im trying my best to get what you trying mean here :/

You dislike it for the fact that almost everyone like it so liking it make you, what ? ordinary ? :P

dude, I like films that are wholesale worshipped :P Like pulp fiction. and a couple of hundred more films which I would have to sit here for hours to name.

I suppose that this film just greatly disappoints me cos Nolan was one of the best directors around. then he went on to make an over produced unoriginal film with lots of plot holes ( don't ask which, cos I don't remember what on earth happened on this film anymore).
it was technically well made, had good cinematography, editing all that. but generally acting was average, direction wasn't all that bad. but overall it just felt that all they wanted to do was to give the audience a stylish money grabbing twist (which apparently worked well). it lacked the mind blowing factor most of nolan films used to deliver.

if they didn't have that stupid subplot with leo's woman stranded in the limbo, this might have been better, and from the way I remember it, this film had lots of attempted badass scenes that should have been left behind in the editing room.

it's not a bad movie, it's entertaining, but it's boring, excessive. doesn't deserve to be on so high on imdb top 250.

Of coz it has some plot holes I agree, T.
But then again the main plot is entangled with many sub plots which makes it harder to keep on track and fill up the holes without blemishing plot and sub ones. You see the mere fact that this additional inclusion of sub plots degrade the quality , But in my point of view it serves beyond my expectation even with few holes.
To be honest I havent seen this complex Sci-Fi ever. Do me a favor and name me 3 I'd like to check them.

" money grabbing twist" I have no clue what this means. But as I suspected your judgement on this movie has severly clouded by the fact that everybody loves this one and lives under the illusion that just liking this movie is make them classy. Just because it turned out that way doesnt mean the director was looking for it.

Take Minority Report. AFAIK almost everyone likes it but still its awesome sci-Fi . But it gotten its insane popularity coz of the name of Spillberg.

However I agree theres some parts that Caprio crying over his dead wife and trying to live in her memory scene arent exactly not usual Nolan Type

But its not mediocre and definitely not boring :)
