    Cloud Atlas [2012]

No matter how much better the forthcoming movies of this year will be, Cloud Atlas will be one of da best among them for me. As usual, Wachowskishave tried to go beyond the boundaries. If you haven't heard of them, they're the writers & directors of movies like The Matrix & V for Vendetta.

Months ago, when I saw da first trailer, which was visually appealing, I was amazed. & when I knew dat it's from Wachowskis,I didn't have any doubts about da quality. :) I'm not telling dis because I like them (I like them because of their movies ), but da movie was up to my expectations. Man, we're talking about a 3hrs long movie. But, I didn't get bored ever.

The production of the movie is also interesting. Natalie Portman has given da novel (with da same title, on which da movie is based) to Lana Wachowski on da set of "V for Vendetta". & dat's how all of it has began. The movie has been shot by two parallel crews, one with Wachowskis & the other with"Tom Tykwer (director of 'Run Lola Run', Perfume - The Story of a Murder)".

According to da Wikipedia, the film has almost been abandoned several times, due to da lack of financial support. However later, it has been financed by different parties from German, & from Wachowskis themselves. If you have heard about how they produced the first 10 minutes of "The Matrix" with all 10 million they were given & then got da entire budget, then you know dat they're willing to take risks.

For me, the film is like a fusion of "The Matrix" & "V for Vendetta". You might notice themes, concepts & stuff from such movies from da same directors. I'm sure dat I will watch dis movie again sm time, with a free mind. I'd give 7.5 - 8.0. But my rating doesn't matter. Even if I give it 7.5, it's not my typical 7.5 movie. It's something better for me. Something dat leaves stuff behind, forcing you to think about. It will stay as one of my favorites. But, for some people @ TIME magazine, it's da #1 of their "Top 10 Worst Movies of 2012".

Ellie Arroway: I'll tell you one thing about the universe, though. The universe is a pretty big place. It's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So if it's just us... seems like an awful waste of space. Right?
