Watched the man from earth. Having a brief idea about the film at first (friend spoilers ftl), I expected that to have scenes referring to each and every major periods like World wars, making pyramids and all, had a "the cake is a lie" feeling when the movie started. But turns out that I just watched a simply brilliant movie that made me think about lots of things in such a little time. Very thoughtful.

    Highly recommend to watch this.

and it gets better on repeated viewings :) great movie.

    i don't think he's gay at all ..:)

hmm not really ..may be cos it reminded him of his dead wife whose death didn't bother him much for his artistic success...remember how his sun in the play refuse the ghost's love to pursue his art career.

wild strawberries is on my top 10

okay...he was neither gay nor straight then.. :P somewhere in between .. :P

Buchheim himself was a U-boat correspondent. He has stated that the following film scenes are unrealistic:

In the film, an unidentified member of the crew throws an oil-stained towel into Lt. Werner's face. As a Lieutenant, Werner would have commanded special respect and in reality, the culprit would have been court-martialed and received a hefty sentence.

The crew behaves far too loudly during patrols; the celebrations after getting a torpedo hit were described as unprofessional. For example, after surviving a bombing, the crew celebrate loudly in their bunks, even with a sailor dressing up as a woman in a red-lit room

both these points are negligible considering this is a movie and not a documentary.
The only down point in this movie is the English dubbing as dubs tend to kill the original character acting.
