    Ikiru

really liked the first half of the movie, but after that the second half kinda went south...I just couldn't get a grip on the narrative style and japanese custom was so freaking annoying at times like everybody bending and bowing all the time with their freaking heads hung over their chests and the lead characters incessant mumbling lolz..which of course took the edge of the quality of the movie for me..still it's a good movie, I don't think kurosawa had riped when he made this movie but then again he made rashomon before this ...but not in the league of seven samurai..not even close

anyway i came across this while trying to find something similar to wild strawberries..and this movie don't even hold a candle to that one. still this is a quality movie.. but this good a concept could have been done better..I'm not happy with direction of this movie but may be its just me..and still.recommended.

its not his best movie but decent one.i am watching yojimbo of his.

would have liked it better if they kept showing the lead instead of killing him in the middle of the film to have filled in the gaps by his co-workers getting drunk and transformed..it was sorta childish but it got better at the end when they got sober and went back to normal lifeless way of liiving ..and the swing set scene at the end was so pretty :)

yeah I saw those, as a matter of fact I'm reading them right now and came across a thread that addressed the same issues i had which i now see is getting blamed for lack of attention or wutever..but for a once, I'd like to disagree with those "movie buffs" ..I thought you had already seen it.

btw I do agree that the movie has a very good concept and had potentials in the first half ..but the second half just didn't do it for me..I expected some subtleties ..when I watch a movie like this, I don't want some silly narrator telling me, everything and spilling every bit out...I'd like to have them pieced together by my self..

    just my two cents.

Yojimbo (1961) -Akira Kurosawa- 8.3/10 IMDB my rating 95%

Yojimbo is a masterpiece from the film genius Akira Kurosawa, and consists of spectacular action, artistry, and dark humor combined. It was remade by , western legend "Sergio Leone" as A Fistful of Dollars (1964) which earned Clint Eastwood his breakout role.
