Am looking for one that does the job without being a pita.
Was using Avast. In the past it remained unobtrusive. But now it is becoming a nuisance.

If I answer your question 'but why' honestly, it is fear and ignorance
In the past, when using Windows have had some fun with viruses. I know the damage it can cause. When started using Linux initially had things like clamtk and since it does not run real time, ran it often. But now had forgotten it existed. With Android, though linux based, with all the noise, the fear has not gone away fully.
But now you got me thinking....
