for me the man is arjuna ranatunga.(sanath ,mahela,dulip mendis,marvan were great captains,but)
he may not have the most successfull captaincy record in terms of victory
but he led pur team to the world cup victoy
here are the reasons ,that i think arjuna is the best
1=he led the team from 1989 to 1999
he won 11 test macthes for sl,not any of them against bangladesh.
2=in 1989 sl was not a huge cricketing nation,though sl has got test status and won few test macthes,and won good some ODI series,they still were under dogs.
but he led his team with dignity and cammand and made our team the best in the world.
3=he may be a dictator in the field,but he did not bow to australians or other big nations
4=in 1989 to 1999 was one of the toughest times for sri lanka as a nation
LTTE was at thie peek.
bombing galadari,central bank and killing thousands
so he was courageous.
