He was a crusader who stood in the way of corrupt politicians who robbed the country. What he disclosed was all facts and his opponents took away his life to prevent further disclosures. It will be too late when the country realizes that we have lost a great man. We pray that he attain nibbana. The Sri Lankan Government has monopolised the entire public media and selling the war for political gain. Hitler's media minister Goebles was no match for our Sri Lankan greats. What a sad day Posted By: scared Those responsible for his death and their families will be cursed in this life and their next life and for several lives to come. Posted By: Me What is imposed upon us by the powers that be is a gradual and systematic mental indoctrination whilst the masses in their sheer gullibility prance around their tall tales.A bold few in our midst choose to question the veracity of the utter mendacity they preach. Contempt of Court, unconstitutional appointments to the arms of government, blatant corruption or the fall of Killinochi quite coincidentally before the elections and the literal silencing of all those who choose to question. There is a need to question, lest we too be silenced! The day ‘they’ silence the media…….that is the day when we need to ask ourselves whether we truly are a democracy! In Lasantha Wickramatunga I see a martyr! It’s easy to engulf ourselves with apathy….yet, what happens when they come for us? Posted By: Abdul Malik Where is media freedom in Sri lanka if within a few days a major TV station and a prominent news papaer editor is attacked? Is this the same TV station that they claim is supporting the LTTE? Posted By: Nadee Oh No! Posted By: Gitanjali Marcelline To be honest, I read more from this paper than on any other media to get the real picture and the approach is fair. The rest of the media in the south never treat the suffering tamils as humans. DM publish both side news but without much sympathy towards majority of the minority's suffering. SL moving from bad to worse. By end of Chinthana term, there will be nothing left except thugs ruling the country. Who is the real terrorist? Posted By: Logi A Worldwide survey was conducted by the UN! The only question asked was: "Would you please give your honest opinion about solutions to the food shortage in the rest of the world?" The survey was a huge failure, In Africa they didn't know what 'food' meant, In India they didn't know what 'honest' meant, In Europe they didn't know what 'shortage' meant, In China they didn't know what 'opinion' meant, In the Middle East they didn't know what 'solution' meant, In South America they didn't know what 'please' meant, And in the USA they didn't know what 'the rest of the world' meant! Finally & the best, the Sri Lankans said this question is not applicable to us since we are in "paradise". Now Lasantha is shot for same reason. Whither SL government? Is this the way to stop corruption by the government.Too much power has made the present govt act like this. It is sure to boomerang on the government. Rest in Peace. Pay back time not far away. God will dish out appropriately. Two major attacks to Sri Lankan media in a week. Barbarians in all shape and forms. Now attacks on media and whos is next to follow? Sri Lankan Intellectuals??? Is this the Chintahnaya preachings or another POLPOT Regime in the making? Cancerous thuggery is at advanced stage in Sri Lanka. Sunday leader was very critical on the ruling parties allways. Nevertheless there was no intention by the previous or present government to eliminate him even though he was threaten on numourous occations. The death of Lasanth should be teh responsibility of all politicians and those so called big wig in high places fleecing the country. You are not gone Lasantha you are stil among us, you showed all us how to stand up for our rights and fight for justice. Sri-Lanka lost one of the bravest journalist. All must unite to oust this government, which in my opinion, is the worst in Sri-Lanka history in terms of human rights. I don't think Lasantha was a role model or a unbiased journalist, But I say he didn't deserve to die this way. And there will be many people who would surely try to take advantage out of his murder. Apart from his views of writing he is a gentleman. Why people of Srilanka let this AND COMPANY to push the country in deep mud.
