I didn't try much, but maybe there is a way. If you are using Firefox, you can try downloading through Flashgot (and then IDM) instead of the IDM's shortcut. I think in Flashgot, it first resolves the link to a downloadable direct link before passing it through to IDM rather than directly passing the link your right click on. I'm not sure about this though. In Opera, there is a problem with Advanced Browser Integration of IDM.
Yes, I tried to download mp3's from IDM and failed.
So, what I did is start the download from firefox. copy the link to IDM and download.
It worked for me.
