In sri lanka, Religion is a subject for the Ordinary Level Exam. How do they measure the religion of a person?

Do you think religion should be an exam subject anymore?

I have the same concern about the history and social science subjects as well.

In the other hand, They don't add the Law as a subject for the curriculum. But supreme court assumes that all the citizens should know the Law.

    That is a funny joke.

Religion/politics are probably the most discussed topics here. Specially, when this is a general forum and not a forum specific to religions. This shows how important it is to Sri Lankans. Usually this is the case for most of under developed countries. So, the education system matches social needs.

At least it should be limited to history.

It's a system of a set standard, you cannot include infinity to it and there is no better alternative either

I personally believe that "the religion" should not be a School subject ....As they have done In Japan

Because it's a school subject by now, the subject-knowledge is measured at the exam .... but it does not reflect the customs or disciplines gained from religions.

Religion has to be removed as a subject. Religion is a personal believe. If someone wants to study it, they can go to a Sunday school or some kind of Religious Council. Or learn it at home. Let's get Buddhism as an example, still, how many Buddhist in Sri Lanka? I mean really? I would say less than 1%. So, teaching Buddhism is 100% useless.

As well as "Islamic Schools" or "Hindu Schools" or "Sinhalese Schools" have to be removed and it MUST be just "Schools" with one syllabus.

But History must be a subject because everything is gonna be a history someday. What happened in 1500 is History. What happened in 1900 is History. What happened in 1970's / 1980's / 1990's is History. So people MUST learn History. Specially, Sri Lankan History! As well as World History, Law, Politics, Economics ...etc Those subjects must be mandatory. The person who doesn't know those subjects will be dumb and ignorant and wouldn't be able to handle the election vote properly - just like nowadays.

    That's my personal opinion..
