If the people elect me as President, it is not a contract to send Mahinda Rajapaksa home and at the same time send me also home, said Presidential candidate General (Retired) Sarath Fonseka during an interview to the electronic media.
The President should retain some powers so as to rectify anything that goes wrong, General Fonseka added.
He said that the President should be responsible for national security and that it should come under his direct control.
Weak financial management has left room for frauds and it has to be controlled.
Problems related to the youth, like unemployment, doubts about their future, security education and university related problems have to be sorted out.
The health services have broken down and needs to be planned and improved. All these subjects (Defence, Finance, Health, Education and Employment) will come under my direct control, Gen. Fonseka added during the interview.
