To this date, commercial airlines do not allow passengers to keep the windows shut during take off and landing. It is a precautionary measure to allow outsiders to see what's going on inside the aircraft in case of an emergency.
If there is an emergency situation like fire inside an aircraft, rescue crews will have a clear view of the area where smoke/fire coming from, and act accordingly.
Is it a wise idea to have these screens instead of windows??

didn't know this until today. tfs
maybe it's more manageable on a smaller private jet due to smaller crew and passenger number when compared to bigger aircraft
