Guyz, I got a HP server at my workplace which is running server 2003...recently, we replaced the RAM unit due to a malfunction..(machine wasn't booting..company said that the RAM needs to be replaced)..Anyway, after the repair i turned it on & everything went well...we're using it as a DC so i configured the AD & everything was ok..but the next day the system was freezed..when i rebooted it just hangs in at the "Applying computer settings" msg.. Anybody knows what the prob is...could it be the RAM..(it's a new 1)...or the system..will i have to redeploy the system..?..need your help guyz...:(

switch off the computer and reseed the memory. if you have two make sure both the same type/model/speed etc.

Looks like more of a hardware issues speak to HP

    Hi,
It sounds like a Hardware issue. I assume that you only replaced one single memory module.
    * If you replace just one, please make sure you replaced the new one with the same LATENCY.
    * Latency is really important if you are working with Branded servers like HP, DELL, IBM.

The latency can be identified by the sticker which says CL2, C 2.5 or CL3.
Make sure both matches. If not replace all with same speed, same size and same latency.

Hopefully it will solve your problem. Also, you do not need to re-deploy the domain or AD. That will remain without any issue.

Please do reply how you go with that. Hope this would help.
