To play games you should make an environment similar to directx they have originally used directx to design the games so theres no other choice.
If normal users want to play games in linux they should play games for linux and shut up about not having windows games running on Linux there are major problems such as licencing even if they do give out full support for windows apps.
So they can expect linux versions of the windows software like open office but not the exact program to run on linux
users should be aware of the real picture, linux is free windows is not they have bonds with gaming companies and hardware vendors and they all have closed API documentation and drivers adapting them to linux is not that easy, if the vendors dont do it themselves!

No im a developer(as a hobby) for windows, anyway people should learn to respect the fact that the way its being done by is not by selling the actual product whether its as best as windows or not. windows is not the best its libraries even the kernel has very old code that is poorly maintained. People know nothing of windows core but in linux it is being maintained and people contribute, linux is not for the user who is a gamer. But for developers students and all others who dont want to play games its more than enough. For a PC i'd recon linux for gaming get a XBOX
