wordpress HELP HELP HELP

every time when i try to import my Wordpress Backup or Dummy data file
(.xml) to a New wordpress site , this error comes.

i have tried several backups, dummy data files but i get the same result.
"Failed to import XXXXXXXXX Invalid post type "

I reinstalled WP now about 10 times, but i get the same result.
i spend a whole day researching about this on internet, yahoo answers,
WP forums but nothing worked.i changed permission to 777, edited some
php s and did all other stuff.
still , i can't import.
i tried almost every importer tool.

please help.i am totally screwed !
