Hard to say who's behind it.. seriously!

It could have done only by 2 type of people..

1. A group who hated Sri Lanka team or Sri Lanka

2. A group whom actually does not want to see any cricket matches in Pakistan, or to prove Pakistan has inadequate security to host something!

The way I see it... LTTE is the best candidate for the first group, but honestly I dont think they are behind this one.. (although they are capable of doing it), they are a terrorist group.. the last thing they want is the confirmation of the whole world that they really are ruthless terrorists.. killing sportsmen will only dig thier grave much faster, they already have a bad name even among Tamils who supported them once because of not releasing the refugees! If they wanted to kill Sri Lankan players they could have done it here in Sri Lanka, So it is highly unlikely that LTTE is behind this!

But the second group is more likely to be involved, this could well be an answer to Indian terror attacks by some extremist Indian group, I'm really surprised how 6 gunmen could not mortally wound 15 or so team of players they all got away with small injuries... but all Policemen were brutally murdered! And also Sri Lankan team went to Pakistan after India refused to tour in Pakistan so that's motive too.. and someone wants all upcoming matches TV rights world cup in 2011 to be shifted to somewhere else, this is BIG MONEY we are talking about!

My money is on the Indian-Pakistan issue than LTTE on this one (for a change )

I hope as a Cricket fan that Cricket will return to Pakistan as soon as possible!

Well... if you think logically LTTE should be the least doubtful of them all.. there's no real reason for them attack Sri Lankan Cricket team, in all 3 decades of WAR Cricketers were never unharmed purely because they do not need direct international attention on them, say if Murali died in the attack.. SL Govt. would deffa turn it around saying LTTE has no regard for thier own kind, killing a world champion Why would LTTE do such an utterly stupid thing?

I think if LTTE wanted to kill any Cricketer they would have started with Arjuna because..

1. He is a Sinhalese
2. He is the most highly regarded Captain of all time (so killing him would bring about the greatest sympathy to Sri Lankans and especially to Sinhalese)
3. He works for Govt. / he is into Politics

But LTTE never touched him because they are really scared of that International pressure!

So based on these I'd say this is not LTTE, this is deffa some Indian extremists who wanted to show to the world that NOT only India but Pakistan too vulnerable to terror attacks... and they are MORE vulnerable than India, that's why they attacked not just some tourists on a HOTEL but International players!

And it worked! Pakistan security now considered worse than India, this was what they wanted! Mission accomplished!

Anyway the motive, culprits and their agenda is a mess... I'm glad our boys are OK to perform another day for Mother Lanka, if those 5/6 players were killed Sri Lanka Cricket would have gone back into the past another 20 years or so!
