The Viaduc de Millau, formally opened on 14 December 2004 and opened to traffic on 16 December 2004., is the tallest vehicular bridge in the world, at 1,118 feet (341 m). However, its Clearance below is 885 ft (270 m) above the River Tarn, so the Royal Gorge Bridge[clearance below is 1,053 feet (321 m)] above the Arkansas River still holds the title of highest suspension bridge in the world.
