Really easy because aims beginers.
Few buttons on panel...
Display could be larger to my taste.

I need more functions, so in fact, not suits me.
But for beginners, trainers its could interesting as learning board or first board (far better than what I had several years before).
- The YES is interesting, but I didn't test it much. Seems hard to me to change tempo for slow down the trainer.
- DJ options are fun, but not a serious feature for a board.
- Not much functions for acmp.
- Wish it had sensitive touch (have it on higher models PSR...) Pity.
Good feature for this range of product. But globally very light for me.



Expressiveness/Sounds

The sound qual is very suffisant for this product range !
Amazing for its price. Yam is right to think even beginners should have nice sounds. Sound qual is better than keyboard of other manufacturers for higher level products (some other 500-600$ boards).
Bodiful and balanced frequences for pianos. Organ are good.
As usual, guitars sucks, some effects sounds are poor.
Globally, when testing all sounds, some feelings of not enough striking sounding from the 100 patches. Maybe all have the equalization...
For its price and aim : sounds are high value ones.


Reliability

: 10
Yam's plastic is a bit better through the years.
They are reliable with usage.

I tested this day the GeneralMusic GK-330 and the PSR-170.
GK is about 500$, more features but sounded poorer than PSR (half the price). Is it due to poor qual speakers ??
Dunno. But very unsatisfied with GK after testing PSR.
PSR is not enought for my use, but the PSR keybs are better sounding (the PSR-170 one is 7/10 to me in a whole scale, vs. 4/10 for the GK through its speakers).

So at last, for its range of use and its public (beginners), PSR-170 is a good value.
