Young doctor arrested over attempted murder of wife.

The Bambalapitiya Police has arrested a young doctor attached to the Trincomalee Hospital over the attempted murder of his wife who was residing in Layards Road, Colombo 5, through an insulin overdose.

The Police launched investigations based on information that a woman residing in Layards Road, Colombo 5 was admitted to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital in a critical condition and her illness was suspicious.

Police said the doctors who examined the woman had informed them that the woman had fallen ill due to an overdose of insulin medicine.

Accordingly, the suspect husband was arrested by the police yesterday for allegedly injecting her with an overdose of insulin.

The arrested suspect is identified as a 33-year-old resident of Layards Road, Colombo 05.

A syringe suspected to have been used by the suspect to inject the insulin was also found in the suspect's house and it had been revealed that he had injected his wife with insulin a few days ago.
Police said the woman is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of the Hospital and the suspect will be produced in court today.

Insulin was invented more than a century ago... But in the USA no low-priced generic forms exist. Moreover the manufacturers sometimes tinker with a molecule or change the delivery system, for eg insulin pens instead of vials and jack up the price.

Apart from being funny.... There's always an option to adopt a child. Kids do not come with an external labels attached. Several of my friends adopted kids as their daughters got married and left them. There could be an underlying motive of being a solution as to escape from the loneliness but it's a very worthy deed.
This goes beyond being childless. As @Stimulus mind mentioned it's another affair, most likely.

It's more fail than success... The best IVF clinics in the World can reach about 33% at young ages.... rapidly declines with age. Don't believe crap stats from IVF clinics from the sub continent.
