in both courses u have subjects related to other areas as well [IT or CSN] So even if u do CSN u still have a chance of applying to programmming jobs as well [if ur father really wants :P ] As u are already comfortable with the most advanced subjects in CSN i dnt think it's a good idea to change the course now. anyways you are one who will be doing a job one day not ur father or ur friends. :P NEVER do any course just to get the degree cos this field is different than others and only a person who did IT understands  I am a SLIIT IT graduate and I made that mistake too and now I sometimes feel I soulhd have followed a programme which had both IT + management, but now it's too late. whatever u do, always target the JOB u would like to do, not even the subjects that's in that course
    good luck! :)

Hey thanks for ur kind reply and guidance:D
The thing which u r telling is true..
But sum1 who is related to IT field had told to my father to change my stream bcoz there will be a vast demand for Softwear engineers in coming years and also is its more suitable for girls than networking in industry..
    And im still thinking:nerd:
    Btw thanks again..

yeah true, the software industry grows but opportunities in the networking field doesn't grow like that and also it's true that networking is more suitable for guys as u will have to deal with hardware as well. So think about that too  btw I'm also a one who transferred from CSN to IT, but that was in the middle of the 1st semester

 talking about transferring, there can't be anyone @ SLIIT who transferred from one batch to another like me :P
I registered for the CSN course, we all had the orientation @ malabe. Then in my 1st yr i spent about 1 month with CSN batch @ metro. Then I transferred to the IT batch and as they had DIT in kandy I joined that batch and did my 1st yr in kandy. We can do only the 1st yr in kandy so again I had to go metro next yr, this time with the DIT batch. Then again in my 3rd yr i transferred to the BSc in IT [ a.k.a BIT ] progamme  Sometimes i had to leave my friends but most of the time I made new good friends and I think I have more friends than anyone as I've been everywhere! lol ;)
