TRC approval for imported Mobile phones

hello,
Is it true that I have to get permission from TRC if I am importing a mobile phone ?
I ordered the HTC Sensation from Handtec (they ship internationally)

Also does anyone know how much tax I will have to pay at the customs ( the order will be shipped through DHL fyi)

ya ull get a paper when it arrives to lanka... 1st u gota go to customs.. get the imei from them... then go to TRC or if u know the imei already it want be a problem..

Yes, you will have to take TRC approval and pay tax. Hope they under valued it. otherwise you will have to pay more tax

BTW could save about 6000Rs if ordered from eBay

(Sample should carry markings pertaining to the Make, Model, Country of Manufacture and IMEI No. and these marking shall be cast or etched in to the equipment or affix by a plate or a label which cannot be removed except by destroying or defacing it)
how do I get them that?
I think that form is for large-scale imports

yes you need this.. i have ordered 200$ mobile last week and customs officers told me that.. i saw that letter too..

They are asking for a sample unit! Did you inquire from TRC about this?

no machan i just paid 13$ and they released.. but you need this to import.. they told me.. "don't import again"

well ebay imported ones if they get detinated by customs u need one as well...

I used USPS express package.. directly to customs

ya its the wrong forum... well when u got to trc u can get a forum from there.. dont need a sample... well 1st wait till the letter arives coz some times the package doesnt get detonated if u are lucky

but it is difficult to handle warranty with Ebay Sellers right?
Any idea how much tax i'll have to pay? I am also getting a screen protector , casing and a memory card along with the phone, will that affect the tax?

that phone is still on pre-order and they expect to ship it by the 20th this month so I guess I will have to wait for sometime to see if gets detained!
