For Computer Science & Engineering and Electronic & Telecommunication Engineering Fresh graduates

MIT (Software Engineer) - 65000/-

Virtusa (Software Engineer) - 60000/- to 75000/-

Cambio (Software Engineer) - 70000/-

WSO2 (Software Engineer) - 70000/- (the batch top from the CSE in this year is getting 95000/-)

Codegen (Software Engineer) - 70000/- to 80000/-

Brandix (ERP Consultant) - 55000/- (SLIIT and UCSC people as Developers same salary)

Creative Solutions (Software Engineer) - 65000/- to 70000/-
IFS (Software Engineer) - 50000/-

For MIT and WSO2 the degree you have got does not mean much but they need good project works like GSOC. And they do not test your coding ability but the problem solving ability. No experience required.

The virtusa is not a good company to work because they discriminate you based on your degree and GPA. (i.e SLIIT and UCSC people they are hiring as Associate Software Engineers and salary is 35000/-)

If you think of your freedom rather than salary then IFS is a better choice because they never keep u after 5.00pm for any reason....

If u are competent the educational qualifications do not matter much in IT field and above are the salaries u are going to get as a fresh graduate passing out from the uni.....

?? :confused::no:
these must be salaries of SE's not ASE's or trainees.. most of the software companies in Sri Lanka do not pay this much these days..

I don't know about the other facts in this post, BUT I CAN GUARANTEE that the above text which is in red is VERY TRUE....

Partially true . Engineering grads should be paid more. I think most virtusans acknowledge that fact. But for other cases, yes there is some sort of discrimination. I see this even in internships they offer

"Engineering grads should be paid more"

I cannot find a fair reason to justify this! By the comments you've made, it seems like you're a Virtusan, or at least you have an acquaintance there. Can you please explain the reason for this..?

Simple. Engineering grads always get paid above 60+ as starting salary in any company in SL (even in Non IT and I don't want to say why it is rather that's how it happens). so it's same there also and basically they are CSE grads, and yes I have once been there

Obviously you won't be the one who makes them, but isn't it a pathetic policy? I mean what these people think about the students from other institutions? To follow a this kind of policy they must assume that the weakest Eng. student is better than the best (or batch top) student of any other institute.!!! I'm not offending you here since you got nothing to do with this situation, but my question is aren't there one single person in these software companies to point out the idiotic nature of this policy. It's totally reasonable to assume that the average Eng. student is better than the average student in other institutes, but what about the point I have mentioned above..??

Salaries are vary according to the company

Some pay 80000 or more for web developers like Mubasher

But most of the SE earn 35000 average in sri lanka

Even if u are a graduate there's no much difference

Most of the time starting salary Trainee - 8000 - 12000

Ecode Lanka pay 35000, 40000 for SE

    Only some companies hire ASE

Above details are for SE with 1 year Exp

But some small medium companies pay lower salaries than mentioned above

you have a point. but batch tops of the Eng is paid much much more. basically more than 75. so average guy will get at least 65. and about the students from other institutions.... the batch tops from there will most probably get higher salary than the others....

I understand what u are trying to say and certainly there is a point but usually the thinking is that eng grads are easier to train and they ramp up quickly . (And I have seen such people)
Whatever the policy is no one raise their voice since that means you are finished with working there. But must know that there are certain companies won't even hire people other than from Moratuwa.
We had a batch second from moratuwa CSE and they paid 75K as a starting sal.
