 LOL again. You know what. This point of your is also narrow minded  Basically what a pvt Uni asks for is three passes for A/Ls and THEY DON'T FKING CARE what A/L that is. Get it?:P Edexcel, Cambridge or Local A/L is accepted. And for those who scored well in A/Ls (Local A/L is not the only A/L in the world FYI) they offer scholarships. So it's the reality that the person who scored 3Bs in Local A/L will miss the scol over to the one who scored 3As in Londons. For them SL A/L is also just an A/L exam and they don't care how hard the paper is. A/L standard is a Global standard which you ppl don't understand. You think A/L must be the hardest exam in the world that you have to do to get into a Uni. It' Fking not

WTF???? So what you are basically saying is Pvt Unis offer degrees to people who are not eligible to hold that degree? We just talked about it yo  If the course is affiliate to a renown foreign University who maintains a good standard from which end of your blessed digestive system are you telling that anyone can earn that degree? It's BS

general paranoia some people has been presenting with their posts has been hilarious so far, keep it up lad.

True. I mean there are some ppl who have points to talk about and I see them as POINTS that we have think about. I'm not gonna say them here or if some dumb get the wrong idea of it, believe me it will take a life time to explain it to him as they don't even get a simple concept right. :oo: Eg :- ##** crisis

Well yeah. Good place to know how corrupted ppls' minds are. It's famous that Sri Lankans will not let the other Sri Lankan to climb the ladder. Addition to that they won't even let the other to get anywhere near them. So they talk about the development of the country. :dull:

In a way yes. But I didn't say all the people study in private universities are not eligible. I was just making a point to what twisted was saying. Actually I don't care whether they're eligible or not. I don't think even the private universities do.

I said something about the cream. Take the 565 engineering students at Moratuwa and the 'rich kids' at private universities who has dreams of being engineers but couldn't even pass all the 3 subjects at A/L's. So what's your point?

    3. And most importantly, only the students who cannot get into gov universities will be allowed to register in private universities.

    4. The cream of the students will always have to study at gov universities.

Well my friend. It's the fault of this system. Most of the Sri Lankans think Eng or Medicine is a big thing and you must be the smartest to do those. You think you need 3As to be an Engineer. Let me tell you 3As are needed to get into a SL gov Uni becz of the competition. Well if you are going to tell me the Institutes that produce Engineers directly without A/Ls be my guest :) Now don't tell me the institutes that make Mechanics like TAFE colleges. Anyone who has passed an accepted A/L exam may learn Engineering. After3-4 years only those dedicated ones will get the Bsc. To get a Doctorate you gotta be smart but not to get graduated. Graduation is not a big deal in other countries unlike for yall.

My point was exactly about the scholars that the pvt universities give to students who sets very high standards at A/L's. As you said they will offer scholars and will try to take the best students at gov universities to pvt. My points number 3 & 4 were about that. I don't want any of the students who has been selected to engineering faculty or medicine at gov university to go to a pvt university.

Now I hope you understand what I said.

It's their call. They will do what they want to do. No one can get in between. If the Uni is offering a schol and he is willing to take it bcz he feels that this degree is the one he wants who is anybody to stop him? :dull: Are you scared that if that happens demand to gov Uni will go down?

the whole rich kid scenario was presented with a hint of sarcasm while replying the post I was replying, so I don't think I should reconsider my definition for anything.

and it is utterly difficult to obtain even an IT degree from a private uni, so it is sort of understood at this point, that brain factor is a must for any sort of university. so what I said was said contextually. when I assert something, do I have to present all the assumptions accordingly ? I thought somethings like 'students requiring a brain' was widely understood. anyways.

sorry to say this, you messed it up for yourself. you didn't seem to need any help from me in that department

    to sum up;

    • current medi schools - super brains get to be doctors
    • private + current - rich and smart enough brains get to be doctors. :)

I think anybody that passed A/L should be eligible to study a degree medical or whatever. (in relevant stream, in case you wanted it spilled out for you)

and why would a lecturer need to work only for the government? if he decides to go for a better career opportunity, no government should study him, there's democracy after all. if government can't keep up with private uni's in terms of salary, well woe to them.

I however tend to agree with you, students having to pass some well established point before they proceed operating on human.

I read Jolly Rogers comment before quoting you. But sorry I didn't see any sarcasm in your reply. And if you were contextual about what you said, then why can't you think of that way about what I said? Did you think when I said 'no brains', there are actually students with no brains at all? I thought you would understand that no brains meant the rich kids with lesser brains who couldn't even pass all the 3 subjects. Of course they do have brains too.

I agree with you on students who passed A/L's should have the right to follow a degree. That is already happening here in Sri Lanka. Even students who failed one subject in Maths stream can go to SLIIT. There are many ways a clever student can build his/her future.

Don't you see what will happen if the best students and the lecturers start to leave government universities? The government university system will fail and that will be the end of free education. Do you have any idea how many engineering students are there in Moratuwa who depends on Rs. 2500 of Mahapola for the entire month? How many of their families do you think can afford to send their children to pvt universities? And this is the case in every other faculties and universities as well.

Don't you see the importance of protecting gov universities first before establishing pvt universities. The rich will always find a way. It' about protecting the poor and the middle class.

The thing is most of the people who want private universities don't give a shit about what will happen to gov universities. Because they have the money and then they will have their degree with some brains of course. Now that I say is real hypocrisy.

he's by far the most confused soul on this thread  must have been under the impression that it is quite like buying gas off gas station...he was good for a giggle anyway.

I'm not surprised to see such a comment from you.
