I read Jolly Rogers comment before quoting you. But sorry I didn't see any sarcasm in your reply. And if you were contextual about what you said, then why can't you think of that way about what I said? Did you think when I said 'no brains', there are actually students with no brains at all? I thought you would understand that no brains meant the rich kids with lesser brains who couldn't even pass all the 3 subjects. Of course they do have brains too.

I agree with you on students who passed A/L's should have the right to follow a degree. That is already happening here in Sri Lanka. Even students who failed one subject in Maths stream can go to SLIIT. There are many ways a clever student can build his/her future.

Don't you see what will happen if the best students and the lecturers start to leave government universities? The government university system will fail and that will be the end of free education. Do you have any idea how many engineering students are there in Moratuwa who depends on Rs. 2500 of Mahapola for the entire month? How many of their families do you think can afford to send their children to pvt universities? And this is the case in every other faculties and universities as well.

Don't you see the importance of protecting gov universities first before establishing pvt universities. The rich will always find a way. It' about protecting the poor and the middle class.

The thing is most of the people who want private universities don't give a shit about what will happen to gov universities. Because they have the money and then they will have their degree with some brains of course. Now that I say is real hypocrisy.

and why would you confuse the above with government institutes? if the quality of government schools is dropped because of the emerge of private schools, who's fault is that? it is entirely up to government keep up as they go. and if they don't, it is up to you guys and your whatever unions that you see to it that the government in fact does it.

what I'm saying is two things can very well co exist. even if the attractive offers of the courses of private uni's draws people, that should not be a reason for the government to let their quality fade.. assuming the government, as it rightfully should, will retain the quality of their institute, poor students can benefit from them, while those who need private schools go for that.

It's their call. They will do what they want to do. No one can get in between. If the Uni is offering a schol and he is willing to take it bcz he feels that this degree is the one he wants who is anybody to stop him? Are you scared that if that happens demand to gov Uni will go down?

I have no reason to be scared since I won't be a victim. But eventually that will cause the gov universities to go down forever. And that won't do any good to the country. And what will happen to the students who has better results but no financial ability?

And are you afraid that if gov lecturers and the best students don't come to the private universities then the standards of the pvt universities will be so poor in intelligence-wise?

my point is both government universities and private universities should be able to co-exist. and from the looks of it, admin of the government uni's doing a shit job at doing it..so don't take it out on private uni's.

This is not about private universities.. I don't care if they exist or rich people go there and study.. Coz I know by experience we people don't loose our jobs(talking by experience and talking about my faculty only coz I don't have enough proofs about other faculties and their abilities)

I want to make sure the existence of the gov. universities. coz according to the current situation the lecturers gonna strike and probably they will left the job.
So what happen to the current and future students??.. please give me an answer.. (may be in your point of view or your wealth position you don't seem this is a huge impact. but trust me there are students who send their mahapola 2500 to their home..I'm talking about those students.)
