Here's part of the maligawa, or royal palace, of the last king Sri Wikrama Rajasingha

On February 18 Ehalepola, Ekneligoda, and Dias's party saw a young lad running away in fear when they were climbing a mound in Medamahanuwara searching for the king's hideout.

The boy was caught and it was his confession that gave the clue as to where the king was hiding in a straw thatched house belonging to the headman.

Ekneligoda broke open the door of the house and demanded that the king opens the door.

In the Ceylinco Life Insurance car parking lot in Fort Colombo there is a small jail cell where the last King of Kandy was kept until he was deported to India by the British. One would not notice what appears to be a small shed if not for an inscription and a statue on the side. You can peer into the tiny chamber through bars and see paintings of King Vikrama Rajasinha, his wife, and the Brit who captured him. You can also see the last packet of Gold Leaf the King was allowed to smoke on Sri Lankan soil. It’s a rather strange place

He stayed in Colombo from 6th March 1815 to 24th January 1816 in a special cell made for him, and was driven to the Colombo harbour to board the ship Cornwallis for Madras with his wives and family. He was escorted by a young civil servant William Granville. It is said that the ship sailed for four weeks.

He died in India 1832 in India as a prisinor in Vellore Fort.

Seven tombs of the King Kandy Nayak are seen within an area covering 40 Sq. Ft in Vellore Town in India . Biggest among them is the Sri Vikrama RajaSingha's
