Note: This tutorial does not require you to root your handset and it does not require you to unlock your bootloader.
Procedure:
1. Install PC Companion or Update Service and make sure that you connect your device to the PC and install necessary USB and ADB drivers.
2. Enable USB debugging on your handset (Menu –> Settings –> Applications –> Development –> Tick mark ‘USB debugging’)
3. Download and install Flashtool.Download Update ,extract and replace all contents of the zip file to the flashtool folder ( C:/ drive> flashtool).
4. Launch Flashtool and the log window should show that you are using ‘Flashtool Version 0.7.0.0 built on 2012-04-14 11:34:01.
5. Download the offical Nordic ICS Xperia™ Ray Rom

6. Unzip the downloaded file and copy .FTF file(ST18i_4.1.A.0.562_(1252-5332).ftf), paste it to” C:\Flashtool\firmwares” folder
7. Launch Flashtool application and click Flash( lightning symbol) and select Flashmode and click OK.
8. Select your firmware name on the left box. On the right side mark the following ‘Wipe User Data’, ‘Wipe Cache’ and ‘No Final Verification Check’ as shown below and select ok.
9. Wait for the software to prepare and it will ask you to connect your mobile, follow the steps carefully and connect
10. The flashing process should now start.Once flashing finishes, it would ask you to disconnect your mobile and restart.It may take several minutes to restart. Congratulations, your Sony Xperia™ Ray should now be running Ice Cream Sandwich!
