A tremor felt in the upcountry today early morning had the intensity measuring 3.0 on the Richter Scale, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau said.
The Director of the Bureau Dr. N.J Wijeyananda said that Officials are further investigating this morning’s earth tremor felt in the upcountry.
Persons in Hatton, Badulla, Welimada, Bandarawela and Nuwara Eliya had felt the tremor around 2.00 am..
“Some of them said the tremor was strong enough to wake them up”, he said.
He said however it was not a serious condition.
The meanwhile the frequency of Sri Lanka feeling the impact of tremors have been on the increase.
