Repair your Refrigerators and ACs your self

A refrigerator has become a common household item these days and AC as well for town ares. A lot people don't familiar with the operation of these items and once a fault occurred they have to call a technician to rectify it. Technicians charge a lot to rectify even a simple thing as the owner doesn't know the subject. So I thought of discussing common faults which can be rectified your self without spending money or at least know your self what happened before technician checked.

I am not a super qualified person in refrigeration field but I'll give my advices as I can.

Please mention the Brand and model name if can. It will help me to find the solution

i have window A/C and it was working fine but last week it stop working i mean there's no wind but the Cooler light is on, compressor is on so i called A/C technician to check my problem and he confirmed my A/C fan has got a issue and i have to replace the fan unit do you think is that the issue?

Following can be happened

1. Problem in blower - If the motor is running, problem may with the blower. If the fan bracket corroded the blower easily get damaged. So check whether there is any corrosion. You can pull the unit from back and remove the cover then check. (Remove the power supply first)

2. Gas leak - It rarely happens in window type ACs.

3. Block of heat exchangers - It will not happen suddenly as yours. Gradually the cooling effect reduces. So the unit should be serviced periodically.

Fault: Our refrigerator draw more power than before. now it take around 2.5 units per day.
before it was max 1.5 units.

what will be problem ?

checked:
1. no door seal leak
2. defrost timer/heater ok
3. no cooling problems
4. no air circulate problem

is it compressor fault ?

but as i told you when i'm switching on i cannot hear any motor sound, so looks my blower got some issue

but as i told you when i'm switching on i cannot hear any motor sound, so looks my blower got some issue

Check the air is coming through outdoor heat exchanger. There is only one motor in window type AC. If the motor burnt then there should be no air flow. Normally plastic fans are damaged easily.

It is easy to dismantle a Window type AC. You can check it your self.

2. Faulty compressor - I have no idea is it over heating or not. never cut off overload protector. heat seems high but I don't know if it higher than normal operating temp. Is there temp range during running compressor ?

4. it has enough space (around 8" from wall) dust free.
