For the transfer MB charge roughly $2.24. And Sampath Bank charges 550/=.(refer Sampath.lk). And the Rs value you get depends on the exchange rate at the time of conversion. The buying rate will be applicable (I hope you have an idea why),

Note that Any bank won't charge any amount if you transfer to a NRFC or RFC account. Only the charge by MB is applicable in such a case...Transferring to a RFC is the cheapest way to transfer money from MB. That is what I currently do.

Bro here is a little tip... To open a RFC account in Sampath you need to have at least 100$ in cash as the initial deposit. Here is what I did

YOu can open a RFC account at commercial bank without having the initial deposit (I did so). but they won't say that. You don't need to have $ is cash. You tell the bank that you need to open a RFC but your dnt have cash and will receive $ in future date. They open the account for you. After that you can transfer in the normal way to that RFC. Then I did get a Dollar draft from Commercial Bank and opened the RFC in Sampath ban with it.

I prefer Sampath bk because they clear the $ almost real time in the following day of transfer. But Commercial bank updates it after the banking day end....

Cheers :D
