Guys he is saying that he purchased his laptop from Softlogic, who is a Dell authorized agent. Since it's out of warranty they have quoted him Rs.71,000.00 for the repair . 71k is a brand new laptop price.
He went to PC assurance only to get it done for cheap.

I am not sure the market price of his laptop but 71k replacement for a year or more old laptop is worthless.

I know a person who has Softlogic Gold Support level on his office laptop. After a warranty replacement many screws were missing on the outside plastic parts. Not sure about inside.
Same with warranty replacement of another Acer laptop of some other Acer dealer.
I think most of these SL agents and unity plaza shops think laptops have unwanted screws that they should remove to save weight

i know some guys have problem with repair centers in Sri Lanka but the main problem is why do you keep buying shitty cheap laptops in the first place. spend some time and cash find brands and models giving reliable performance. instead of going cheap laptops they are manufactured for one year performance only, it design that way to be discarded after one year that's a fact. that is why zero or very little amount taxes for laptop importing. you buy an hp and definitely you get overheating and south bridge issues just Google it and you can see AND IT CAN NOT BE SOLVED BY JUST CLEANING THE HEAT SINK (NOT HEATSING) APPLYING THERMAL PASTE NEED TO REBALL THE CHIP- CHECK www.[B]tomshardware[/B].com/ SITE FOR INFO.

and some idiots play high end games on laptops without realizing that most games overclock processor without your knowledge it heat the chips to dangerous levels and it goes bang damaging the layers of the pcb(motherboard) and then you expect the repair guys to perform miracles. once it fixed the same idiot goes and play games and videos on beds where fan ventilation get block and in couple of hours it break down again and blame others, you idiots take a stick and beat up your self first before bitching

most of repair people are just learning they are fakes and some are pros (been in business for years) do you think a company can stay in business if they are fucking people for fun and to grab cash....

think clearly buy a high end lap like alienware, battlestation or razor even asus zen, custom gaming laptops and if you can not afford it then service your cheap laptops every six months to avoid aggravation and tension

mcho listen to this,,,, in 2011 I went to same place as you did and they gave me big promises to repair my laptop for very competitive price. So I agreed with them and signed the papers which says I have to pay Rs. 2000 if I want collect the goods before the repair is done. So I informed them I am leaving the country in 4 weeks, whatever is to be done has to be done in 4 weeks. so they agreed too. Until 3rd weeks no contact at all, in 4th week I visited them, they even didn't know where the lap is. Finally I found out it is at repair center which is in somewhere close to battaramulla. So I went there, you wont believe this, it is not a repair center it is just a house with some dumb cunts who playing around with your valuables. People who were in there looks like carpenters to me, no professionalism at all. All they have done was stick their fricking stickers every where on my lap. they denied to handover my laptop without 2000 rupee and gave me all those bullshit that his boss ordered some chips from hong kong. I managed to get the number of this "so called" BOSS and called him. he is from kandy, told him fuck you and have a nice day. next instance they handed over my lap without 2000 rupee. after that I flew back to nz and got that repaired, they even have touched my screen with finger tips so i had to replace that too. NEVER EVER EVER EVER GO THERE.

that's not true all processors will shutdown if they heat up to dangers levels. It wouldn't damage the motherboard but pc will crash or reboot.

trouble with unityplaza is full of scammers. I been their few times, every time if you act like you dont know they will try and scam you.

It's a shame I used to like unity plaza I bought my 1st PC parts their.

PC Assurance people promised me to repair motherboard for less than 5000.(I can't remember the exact amount.) SO I gave it to them. I checked its status frequently but I felt that there is no improvement. It was very difficult to meet their so called "Boss". But there were a good person who can talk with. I can't remember his name. Every time I went to check my laptop, they were waiting for the arrival of so called "chips". Once they told that they have replaced its chip but It went burn. So they ordered again.
After few days I cancelled order and took my laptop by paying about Rs.750(diagnostic fee). There were two rams installed on my laptop. Only one was there when I checked it at my home. Also lots of screws were missing.
That laptop was a gift for me from the relative who lives abroad. There were no international warranty. So I had no option. Finally I gave up that laptop and bought a new one and gave its working parts to my friends who needed them.

no, you can search for the service manual and do it your self. service manual will have step by step instruction some time youtube will have it as well. Ordering the part might be tricky. try the US or UK website for similar laptop with faulty screen etc and use the parts. you can even sell ur old hard drive/memory back to unity plaza
