Xiaomi continues to fuel both rage and hunger amongst those users in India who are eager to purchase a Mi 3 handset. Today, a batch of 15,000 phones was made available for sale on Flipkart and was gone in 2 seconds. A lot of users claim that it was so fast that they couldn't even see the phone enter their shopping cart when they clicked on it – it just immediately went out of stock.
It seems that the "hunger marketing" strategy is still going well for the China-based upstart, as this 15,000 sellout is a new record, beating last week's 5-seconds. The handset is highly sought-after for its flagship specs, combined with the very affordable pricetag of around $230.
Xiaomi is getting a lot of attention as of late, with its latest flagship – the Mi 4 (only available in China, for now) – rattling the ground with amazing specs for a very low price (around $310), and the allegations that they are copying Apple. It was recently reported that it surpassed Samsung in number of smartphones sold in China for Q2 2014, making it the leading vendor in the region for said period, which – for a 4-year old company – is an amazing feat, no matter what.
Registrations for the next Mi 3 sale are going to start at 6 p.m. today. The sale itself is set for 2 p.m., August 12th.
